Vancouver Maritime Museum is the principal maritime museum on the Pacific Coast of Canada, and one of the major maritime museums on the West Coast of North America. A member of the Council of American Maritime Museums and the International Congress of Maritime Museums, the Vancouver Maritime Museum interprets the story of Canada's great Pacific port and its links with the Pack Rim. Village Historique Acadien A remarkably authentic historical site in North America (Phoenix Award Winner and Attractions Canada 2001/2002), the Village Historique Acadien strives to portray the lives of Acadians between 1770 and 1939. More than 40 complexes are staffed by interpreters in period costumes who bring ancestral customs and traditional trades back. Each of them has a story to tell! Allow a minimum of 3 hours for a complete visit. The Village Historique Acadien is located near Caraquet, in northeastern New Brunswick, 50 km/30 miles east of Bathurst and 130 km/78 miles north of Miramichi.

Battle Harbour National Historic Site of Canada Through the efforts of the Battle Harbour Historic Trust, the village of Battle Harbour is now a living commemoration of the life and society created there by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Numerous historic structures, walkways and work areas have been restored or reinstated, and a collection of more than 300 artifacts related to the fishery and everyday life are on display. Today, the historic premises at Battle Harbour are open to the public. Now you can discover and experience this fascinating era of Labrador history.

Programs and award-winning exhibits describe, with riveting detail,the history of the fishery from the 15th to the 20th century. While visiting, take a moment to talk with "Maggie" as she works on the fish flake, try your hand at splitting a codfish, drop by the on-site Bonavista Museum, or stomp your feet to the rollicking traditional music of the Cape Shore Boys.

Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site of Canada Step into a bustling French town of 250 years ago. With impressive walls, majestic gates, quaint homes and formal gardens, comfortable inns and lively taverns, the Fortress of Louisbourg is North America's largest reconstructed 18th century fortified town. Grand-Pre National Historic Site of Canada This commemorative site was the heart of the 17th and 18th century Acadian village that became the scenic setting for Longfellow's narrative poem Evangeline, and includes a church and cemetery. A new Visitor Centre opened in 2003.
